Day 3

So Finn has been home for 3 days and it's been interesting. We're supposed to keep him to limited (read no) activity for two weeks. No running, jumping, basically no nothing. Here's the big problem...he's a Jack Russell. Calm is not in his vocabulary. He does not like us carrying him up and down the stairs, not allowing him to jump on the bed, us, or couches. He hates that we won't play with him. He is not fond of the exercises we have to do with his hip or the compresses we apply twice a day. Not to mention the super fun party cone he gets to wear when we're gone and he chills in the crate.
We are lucky that he only had to have the top part of his Femur head removed and not a hip replace (about a 1/3 less as well). He has 7 staples in his right hip and no hair on the leg or butt. He looks kind of silly. He was no longer recieving blood to the top of the bone and it was causing him soem pain and as getting worse. This degeneration is seen in small toy breeds, but very rarely. Guess we picked a winner.
As he leaps from the coach to the chair to see his dad. Lots of rest and no activity. Are they mad??? I'll be glad when he can start short little walks and can go swimming. I tihnk he misses that and playing with his friends. We have weekly play dates at the dog park with his friends and ours. Sad, but none of us have kids. We have our dogs. We won't go to jail for putting them in a crate with just water and a chew toy and leaving them for several hours all alone. Can't really do that with kids.
I wouldn't trade Finnigan for the world. Maybe some day he'll get a brother...the four-legged kind. I'm no where near ready to have the two-legged kind.
